Austria consults on integration draft changing B2 proof for accelerated naturalisation

The proposal would require an ÖIF B2 integration examination for the specified route; it is not yet law.

Austria · Ministerial draft under consultation

Ministerial draft 152/ME on integration obligations reached Austria’s Parliament on 23 October, with consultation open until 12 November. It includes an amendment to section 11a(6)(1) of the Citizenship Act and remains at the pre-parliamentary consultation stage.[1]

The explanatory notes say that only the Austrian Integration Fund’s B2 integration examination would establish the B2 requirement for the specified accelerated-naturalisation route. The draft proposes commencement on 1 January 2027, with proceedings already pending then completed under the previous rules.[2][3]

This is not a notice that all citizenship applicants must already use a new examination. The proposed date, transition and final wording remain subject to the legislative outcome.[1][2][3]
