Azerbaijan digital-nomad residence amendments take effect in January 2027
The October law covers specified technology-sector remote workers, with tax registration, technology-park and income conditions.
Migration Code amendments dated 30 September 2026 and published by Azerbaijan’s presidency on 22 October establish residence grounds for foreign or stateless digital nomads working remotely in digital technology, AI, cybersecurity or innovation with foreign-source income. The law takes effect on 1 January 2027.[1][2]
The temporary-residence route requires tax registration, technology-park resident status and apostilled or legalised evidence of stable foreign income averaging at least 13 times the minimum monthly wage over the preceding 6 months. Permits may last up to 3 years and be renewed subject to conditions. This does not establish that applications are already open.[1]
