Bermuda adds charity contribution and stronger checks to investment residence
The 2 October statement explains the revised EIRC policy and protection for earlier certificates.
Bermuda’s 2 October statement says its 2026 EIRC policy took effect at the end of September. It requires at least BD$25,000 for registered local charities, within or alongside the qualifying investment. Donations to the Bermuda Trust Fund no longer qualify.[1]
The policy adds documentation, risk assessment and 2-stage compliance checks, plus a BD$10,000 Bermuda Business Development Agency fee. Subject to the policy’s provisions, certificates granted before commencement remain effective under the rules applicable when issued.[1]
