French bill would remove an overseas-work residence exception for nationality
Bill 3359 targets item 1 of Civil Code article 21-26, rather than every nationality-law residence exception.
A private member’s bill registered on 20 October proposes deleting item 1 of Civil Code article 21-26. The bill describes an exception that treats overseas work for the French state, or for a body whose activities are of particular interest to France’s economy or culture, as residence in France for nationality purposes.[1]
Bill 3359 was referred to the Laws Committee. The published text establishes a proposal, not its enactment or commencement, and would not repeal every residence exception.[1]
