India designates 3 regional foreigners-registration jurisdictions

The 28 October notifications revise assignments for Odisha, Tripura and Nagaland.

India · Gazette designates three regional registration jurisdictions

India’s Ministry of Home Affairs issued S.O. 5853(E) and S.O. 5854(E), dated 28 October 2026, amending designation tables under the Immigration and Foreigners Act 2025. The Foreigners Regional Registration Officers at Bhubaneswar, Agartala and Kohima are assigned Odisha, Tripura and Nagaland respectively, with those states removed from the relevant earlier entries.[1]

This changes official and territorial assignments, not residence eligibility or visa exemptions. The ministry index lists the item under 30 October, while the linked Gazette and both notifications are dated 28 October. The documents do not establish when service counters actually opened.[1][2]
