Italy’s Chamber took up citizenship bill 2124 after committee consideration ended on 14 October. Its official record lists a general debate on 19 October and consideration of preliminary questions on 28 October. The Chamber’s 16 October analysis says the amended text would add exclusions for foreigners born in Italy who have lived there lawfully and continuously until adulthood. It would also extend language and conduct requirements and expand offences that can trigger revocation for citizenship acquired through specified routes. These are proposed changes, not a uniform revocation rule for all existing citizens.[2]

The bill was originally introduced on 31 October 2024. Committee amendments and floor debate are later legislative stages, not a reannouncement of existing law. Applicants should assess eligibility under current law while the final text, enactment and commencement remain unverified.[1][2]
