Jordan extends foreign-worker regularisation through 1 December
The 7 October announcement distinguishes former work-permit holders from people who entered for other purposes and then took employment.
Jordan’s Labour Ministry announced on 7 October that the Cabinet extended its 8 June foreign-worker regularisation arrangements through 1 December 2026, across sectors including domestic work. The extension covers workers who entered for employment and previously held work permits.[1]
People who entered for non-work purposes and subsequently took employment have separate terms: the full new permit fee plus JOD 500 for previous periods, for a one-year work permit from the application date. They should not be assumed to receive the same exemptions.[1]
The announcement also applies a 100% late-renewal or employer-transfer penalty waiver in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone. It warns of enforcement and deportation after 1 January 2027 for workers who have not regularised. That enforcement date does not extend the stated 1 December deadline.[1]
