Latvian parliament rejects bill to remove fund-linked residence provision
The 29 October vote does not establish that the investment route is open.
On 29 October, Latvia’s parliament rejected at first reading a bill seeking to remove the fund-linked residence provision, with 34 votes in favour and 39 against. This is a separate legislative development following the new Immigration Law’s September implementation.[1]
The vote did not remove the provision or establish that the route was open. The committee rapporteur told the sitting that the fund had not yet been established. Retaining a legal basis does not itself open applications.[1]
