New Zealand selects provider for planned citizenship test
The 7 October announcement moves the planned late-2027 test into design and preparation.
New Zealand’s Minister of Internal Affairs announced on 7 October 2026 that Aspeq Limited had been selected to provide the in-person test planned for the citizenship-by-grant process from late 2027. Provider selection marks a design and preparation stage, not the test’s launch.[1]
Aspeq will work with the Department of Internal Affairs on booking, payment and test delivery. Applicants must still meet existing presence, character, English-language and intention-to-reside requirements. The announcement does not say testing has opened or replaced those requirements.[1]
