Queensland publishes 2026–27 nomination requirements, with registrations opening on 6 November

The 2026–27 requirements are published. The tax assessment requirement for onshore applicants has a non-filing exception, and an ROI does not guarantee an invitation.

Australia · Requirements issued; ROI not open

Migration Queensland has published its 2026–27 State Nominated Migration Program requirements and announced that Registrations of Interest will open on 6 November 2026. The announcement is labelled last published on 30 October. It does not announce that registration is already open or that visas have been granted.[1]

Onshore skilled applicants normally need to lodge their 2025–26 tax return and obtain their Australian Taxation Office Notice of Assessment before submitting an ROI. The dedicated guidance provides an exception: applicants who did not need to lodge a return for that year must enter taxable income of $0 in the ROI and do not need an NOA. Otherwise, the amount must match the NOA. Tax returns, receipts, payment summaries and income statements are not accepted as substitutes.[1][3]

Queensland may nominate eligible skilled workers for the subclass 190 Skilled Nominated visa or subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa. Both Commonwealth and state requirements apply. Places are limited: an ROI does not guarantee an invitation, and nomination is not a visa grant or citizenship.[1][2]
