Singapore changes pre-issuance Work Permit work authorisation from 29 November

Affected workers need an issued Work Permit or Temporary Permit, rather than relying on the IPA alone.

Singapore · Announced; implementation scheduled

From 29 November, workers need an issued Work Permit or Temporary Permit (TP) letter before starting work. For non-Malaysians, the new TP arrangements cover Work Permit applications and appeals submitted from that date. Employers can apply through myMOM Portal if work must start before permit issuance.[1]

A non-Malaysian worker’s TP can start no earlier than the 2nd day after arrival. Malaysians must have in-principle approval and be in Singapore. Levy starts when TP is granted. This concerns work authorisation and processing, not permanent residence or citizenship. The page does not state its first-publication date.[1]
