Slovenia proposes tougher family-reunification residence and income requirements

The 22 October cabinet proposal would extend the general qualifying residence period from 1 year to 3 years.

Slovenia · Cabinet proposal

Slovenia’s cabinet approved a Foreigners Act amendment proposal on 22 October. It would raise the lawful-residence period for family reunification for third-country nationals from 1 year to 3 years, including for subsidiary-protection beneficiaries, with an exception for unaccompanied minors.[1]

The proposal also doubles the basic means-of-support benchmark to €1,014.86 a month at the amount quoted, changes family-member calculations and raises language requirements for some permanent-residence applicants. These are proposed changes, not verified rules already in force.[1]
