Singapore GIP funds: payment and evidence after approval in principle
After approval in principle, the application moves from a proposed investment to payment and verification. Bank records and fund documents need to tell a consistent story.

The investment window and payment account
EDB’s GIP factsheet requires Option B applicants to demonstrate a S$25 million investment in a GIP-select fund within the six-month approval-in-principle period. Payment must come from an account in the applicant’s sole name with a bank registered in Singapore.[1]
If available funds sit in a company account or a joint account overseas, the practical question extends beyond the balance. Establish how the money can lawfully reach the required account and what evidence the bank needs to understand its origin.
Fund administration and immigration evidence
EDB’s information for GIP-select funds distinguishes the transfer of investor money from subsequent capital calls and refers to escrow where required.[2] Ask the manager to explain the payment instructions and the confirmation it will issue. Compare these with the applicant’s approval conditions; a fund’s internal timetable should not be assumed to replace the GIP deadline.
A subscription agreement records the investment terms. A bank record establishes a transfer. Connect the two by the investor, fund, amount and date. Explain shortened names or split payments rather than leaving a reviewer to infer the relationship.
A coherent submission
The factsheet identifies undertakings, a statutory declaration, bank confirmation and transaction evidence, together with a manager-certified share certificate or subscription agreement. The individual EDB request governs the documents needed.[1]
Check whether the records identify the same investor and support the same investment amount. This is more useful than simply counting attachments. Retain original records and explain discrepancies.
From verification to permanent residence
EDB’s process places investment verification before ICA’s final approval. Permanent residence must then be formalised within twelve months of the final approval letter.[3]
Record subscription, payment, final approval and PR formalisation as separate milestones. A clear file will also help when retrieving records later. Selection as a GIP fund is not an endorsement of investment performance; its fees and commercial terms still require independent consideration.[1]
