Barbados Senate passes immigration and citizenship bills
Parliament records Senate passage of both bills on 4 November, following House approval in October. The histories do not establish assent or commencement.
The Immigration Bill, 2026 and the Barbados Citizenship Bill, 2026 passed the Senate on 4 November 2026, according to the official legislative histories published by Barbados Parliament. Both now show their current stage as passed.[1][2]
The House of Assembly had passed both bills on 27 October. The current histories date Senate notice to 28 October and record first and second readings, committee and report stages, and passage on 4 November. This establishes completed Senate consideration rather than merely scheduled business.[1][2]
Neither history supplies an assent or commencement date. Senate passage therefore does not establish that new residence or citizenship rules are in force or that applications have opened. The applicable conditions and transitional provisions still depend on the formal legislation and implementation documents.[1][2]
