Denmark delays citizenship-screening expert report until expected mid-March 2027
The 23 October announcement concerns the research timetable, not the commencement of new screening rules.
Denmark’s Ministry of Immigration and Integration said on 23 October 2026 that the expert group examining citizenship-applicant screening could not deliver its recommendations around the turn of the year. Its chair now expects completion in mid-March 2027 because of the work’s scope and complexity.[1]
The group is assessing whether screening for anti-democratic statements and attitudes contrary to fundamental freedoms and human rights is legally, technically and practically feasible. This is a change in the policy-development timetable, not implementation of a new citizenship condition or a general reopening of suspended cases.[1][2]
