Germany adds an A2 floor for the remaining DTZ written component

The current scoring rule adds an A2 minimum; the official previous version ran through 31 October.

Germany · Scoring requirements amended

Germany’s current Integration Course Test Regulation requires DTZ candidates seeking an overall B1 result to achieve B1 in speaking and in either listening/reading or writing, plus at least A2 in the remaining component. The federal text identifies an amending regulation dated 13 October 2026.[1]

The previous version on Saxony-Anhalt’s official legal portal, expressly valid through 31 October, required B1 in speaking and one written component without that A2 floor.[2]

On 19 October, the Interior Ministry said the amendment was intended to take effect on 1 November. The current scoring text reflects the amendment, but the specific Gazette commencement clause has not been verified for this report.[3]
