Hong Kong sets 1 January 2027 start for New CIES 2026 capital-batch lock-up
The 12 October announcement specifies batch allocation and lock-up terms, separate from personal residence timelines.
HKIC announced on 12 October that the 2026 New CIES Investment Portfolio batch covers capital from applications received during 2026 and approved within the applicable period. Its seven-year lock-up starts on 1 January 2027, with investment expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027. It concerns the HK$3 million portfolio component of New CIES.[1]
The batch schedule should not be equated with an individual’s residence timeline or investment deployment date. The announcement does not establish that asset managers have already been appointed or guarantee immigration approval.[1]
