UK extends domestic abuse settlement access to eligible adult dependent children

Version 25.0 explains the adult-child eligibility change effective from 8 October; the public page was updated on 15 October.

United Kingdom · Settlement eligibility and guidance updated

Home Office guidance confirms that, from 8 October, domestic-abuse victims aged 18 or over who hold, or were last granted, child permission on specified routes can apply independently for settlement without a parent applying alongside them. Version 25.0 was issued for staff on 9 October; the public page is marked updated on 15 October.[1][2]

The relationship with the parent or parent’s partner must have permanently broken down through domestic abuse, and other requirements apply. Maintaining or resuming family contact after leaving an abusive home does not itself disqualify the applicant. Overseas applicants face additional abandonment conditions. This is not a general route for all adult children or dependent parents.[1][2]
