Argentina Unveils Its Citizenship by Investment Programme
Applicants can choose a non-refundable US$350,000 contribution or a US$800,000 government bond. Spouses and eligible children may also apply, with applications expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Argentina presented its citizenship by investment programme at Argentina Week in Paris on 2 October 2026. The Ministry of Economy published the investment options, family requirements and expected application timetable the same day.[1]
Two options for the main applicant
| Option | Amount and terms |
|---|---|
| Contribution to the Treasury | US$350,000, non-refundable |
| Dedicated government bond | US$800,000 subscription |
For the bond option, applicants will also need to know how long their money is committed, whether it earns interest and how it can be recovered. Those terms are not specified in the announcement, so the two headline amounts do not yet allow a full comparison of costs.[1]
Separate contributions for family members
Spouses and eligible children may apply with proof of their relationship. The contribution is US$100,000 for a spouse or each child aged 18–25 who is unmarried and has no children, and US$25,000 for each child under 18.[1]
A couple with two children under 18 would therefore contribute US$500,000 on the non-refundable route: US$350,000 for the main applicant, US$100,000 for the spouse and US$25,000 per child. The full fee schedule has yet to be set out in this announcement, so families should also allow for additional costs once these are confirmed.[1]
Applications are planned for the fourth quarter
The expected opening window is October–December 2026. An exact date and application portal will need to be confirmed in a further notice.[1]
Every application will be assessed, including checks on identity, source of funds, financial circumstances and background. Funds must pass through the formal financial system. The citizenship by investment agency will make a recommendation to the National Directorate of Migration, which will decide whether to approve the application. Meeting the investment requirement does not guarantee approval.[1]
The announcement gives no overall processing time. The 30-working-day period in Decree 524/2025 begins only when the Directorate receives the agency’s assessment report. It does not include preparing documents or the earlier review stages.[2]
What remains to be clarified
The next details to look for are the bond terms, full fees, payment stages and document requirements. Families comparing the options will need to consider both the money committed and the conditions and supporting documents required for each applicant.
