Applying for a passport after citizenship approval
Vanuatu’s immigration department has a separate citizen-passport application process requiring citizenship evidence, forms, photographs and other applicable documents. Applicants under 18 require parental or guardian consent.[2]
Citizenship approval does not mean a passport has already been issued. Before booking travel, confirm the status of the citizenship certificate, passport application and collection, together with current identity verification, attendance, biometric and overseas-application requirements.
Application costs and subsequent expenses
The citizenship office’s fee page includes a family-size schedule alongside descriptions for other categories, including Form D. No single figure should be treated as a universal total. Obtain an itemised quotation for the actual route, family composition and submission date.[1]
Professional services, documents, passports, necessary travel and destination visas should be listed separately. Renewals, lost-passport replacements and changes in family particulars may also involve additional procedures and expense.[2]
Practical use depends on the destination
For frequent travellers to the UK or Schengen area, visa requirements are an important part of a passport’s practical value. The citizenship decision should reflect actual travel purposes, intended stays and existing visas or residence permits, rather than historic visa-free claims.
For each trip, check the current rules at the destination and any transit point, as well as the validity and conditions of the relevant documents. Important requirements should be reviewed before booking and again before departure. A previous admission does not establish eligibility for every subsequent visit.
