New Zealand · Transition rules amended

Immigration New Zealand’s Amendment Circular 2026-33, dated 30 October 2026, amends Parent Category EOI transition rules with effect from 27 October. A current EOI that meets the conditions takes its place in date-order selections from the submission date of the earliest qualifying EOI removed from the pool.[1]

The earlier EOI must have remained unselected and been removed on or before 4 October 2026, including through expiry or withdrawal. Any period without an EOI in the pool must not exceed 90 days. At least one individual must appear in the earliest removed EOI and every subsequent EOI, including the current one, as either the submitter or a partner.[1]

Previously selected EOIs are excluded whether or not an invitation was issued. An earlier queue date does not guarantee an invitation or residence approval; Parent Category and general residence requirements still apply.[1]
