Naoero (Nauru) Citizenship by Investment: After Approval in Principle
Approval in principle is followed by payment, the oath and the issue of documents. For a family planning to travel, knowing which steps are complete is more useful than relying on a single estimated processing time.
Check the payment instructions
The Economic and Climate Resilience Citizenship Program uses Naoero in its English materials. Under the published process, the agent passes on an approval-in-principle letter with instructions for paying the contribution and passport fees. Application and due diligence fees belong to the earlier submission stage.[1][2]
On receiving a payment request, check the application reference, applicant names, currency and amount, then verify the recipient details and deadline. Keep separate records of charges already paid, amounts now due, and banking or professional-service costs. This makes the overall cost easier to follow.
The public fee schedule explains the types of charge. Use the formal instructions for the particular application when arranging payment. Retain the transfer receipt and confirm that the payment has been received and recorded.
Agree the oath arrangements in advance
The official process requires an oath or affirmation before the citizenship certificate is issued. Where personal attendance is not possible, it allows recognised audiovisual arrangements or completion before a notary or another authorised person in a different jurisdiction.[1]
Ask the authorised agent to confirm who may act as witness, which documents to use and how to sign and submit them. Where family members are in different countries, check the accepted arrangements for each person.
The programme has no residence requirement, but applicants must still complete the required signing, identity checks and oath procedures.[3] Steps handled remotely also need to follow the accepted process and be properly recorded.
Track certificates and passports separately
The published process treats citizenship certification and passport arrangements as separate steps. The passport stage also refers to a certified copy of the application form.[1] Keep a record for each family member showing payment, the oath, certificate issue and passport receipt.
Documents may not arrive for everyone at the same time. Check each person’s name, date of birth and other identity details when their documents arrive, and raise any discrepancy promptly.
The contribution page gives a usual period of three to four months from submission to citizenship approval, subject to complete documents and efficient due diligence.[2] This is not a guaranteed delivery date for every family passport. Before finalising travel, confirm that the valid passport has been received and check destination and transit entry requirements.
Keep the file for future renewals
The programme office’s FAQ currently states that passports are valid for ten years and may be renewed through its office or Nauru’s embassies and consulates.[3] Confirm the documents and checks required with the receiving office when renewal is due.
Keep the approval letter, payment records, oath documents, citizenship certificates and passport copies together. Note where originals are stored and add evidence of any later name or family changes. A consistent record makes future renewal and identity checks easier.
