São Tomé: funding evidence
When a parent or another person funds an application, the financial story extends beyond the applicant’s balance. It needs to explain who provides the money, on what basis and how it reaches the application.

A benefactor is subject to review
The programme’s FAQ permits sponsored applications and states that the benefactor must supply the required documentation and pay a US$5,000 due diligence fee.[1] That item does not cover the contribution and all other application costs.
Tell the licensed Marketing Agent who will provide the funds and how that person is related to the applicant before submission or payment. Establish whether the specific relationship is acceptable and whose evidence is needed. The brief public answer does not confirm every possible third-party payment structure.
Explain who is funding the application and where the money comes from
The official document guidance includes bank statements and proof of source of funds.[2] For a sponsored case, a useful preparation exercise is to connect the benefactor’s source of funds, the purpose of the funding and the eventual payment.
For example, a parent proposing to fund an adult child from a personal asset sale could organise relationship evidence, ownership and sale records, incoming proceeds, the amount to be provided and its intended use. This is a hypothetical illustration; the authority determines the actual documents, certification and conditions.
Separate funding from eligibility
Paying the costs does not itself include the benefactor in the citizenship application. The principal and proposed dependants still need to satisfy their applicable conditions and undergo the relevant checks.[1][2]
A family budget can identify applicants, qualifying dependants and the person supplying funds separately. One person may have more than one role, but the documents and costs should make each role clear. A family relationship alone should not be treated as a completed eligibility assessment.
Confirm the payment account and supporting records
The published sequence places the fund contribution after approval in principle.[2] Before a benefactor pays, have the agent confirm the receiving instructions, acceptable payment account and supporting records. The public pages do not resolve every account-routing question.
Keep the funding explanation, review documents, approval, payment instructions and bank receipts in sequence. A coherent record should let the family see who paid each amount and which stage of the application it concerned.
