São Tomé and Príncipe passport: visa-free visits to Hong Kong and Singapore

Ordinary-passport holders from São Tomé and Príncipe can visit Hong Kong visa-free for 14 days and generally do not need an advance entry visa for short visits to Singapore. Entry conditions and the stay granted still apply.

São Tomé and Príncipe ordinary-passport holders can visit Hong Kong visa-free for 14 days. Singapore’s current visa-required list does not include the country, so these holders generally do not need to obtain an entry visa before a short visit.[1][2] Visa-free travel does not guarantee admission or confer permission to work or reside long term.

Hong Kong allows a 14-day visa-free visit

Visitors must have sufficient funds for their stay and, where required, onward or return tickets. Admission remains a decision for the immigration authorities.[1] Travellers planning to stay beyond the visa-free period should arrange the appropriate visa or entry permit before departure.

Visitor status permits a defined range of activities. A short visit does not establish permission to take employment, study or settle.[1] Meetings with clients and other business activities must also fall within the activities allowed for visitors.

Singapore records the permitted stay in the electronic Visit Pass

Visa-free access to Singapore does not determine the same length of stay for every traveller. The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) issues an electronic Visit Pass, or e-Pass, at entry, stating the period granted.[2] Departure plans should follow the visitor’s own entry record.

Foreign visitors generally need a passport valid for at least 6 months and, where required, must submit the SG Arrival Card within the 3-day period ending on the arrival date. The arrival card is not a visa.[3] Travellers should also be able to explain their purpose of visit, accommodation, funding and onward itinerary.

Earlier destinations and transit stops can affect entry requirements

Singapore’s yellow-fever certificate requirements depend on recent travel. They cover visits to countries with a risk of transmission within the 6 days before arrival and airport transits in those countries lasting more than 12 hours.[3] Preparation should therefore account for the whole itinerary.

Work, business operations and long-term residence must meet the relevant permission requirements in each destination. Short-visit eligibility does not replace those approvals.[1][3] A complete travel plan starts with the passport and purpose of the visit, checks the conditions at each stop and sets departure against the stay actually granted.
