Grenada citizenship: the cost of a family NTF application

An NTF family budget combines the government contribution with charges assessed for individual applicants. Relationships and ages determine what the base amount covers and what must be added.

What the US$235,000 contribution covers

Grenada’s National Transformation Fund is a government contribution route. The Investment Migration Agency, or IMA, lists a US$235,000 base contribution for an individual or a family of up to four within the ordinary fee categories. Siblings and parents or grandparents aged 55 or under fall outside that basic coverage.[1][2]

A budget therefore starts with the composition of the family. A couple with one child and an applicant including a parent and a sibling both involve three people, but may attract different additional contributions.

Check eligibility alongside the fee category

IMA identifies spouses, qualifying children, parents, grandparents and siblings. The 2019 amendment includes supported children aged at least 18 but under 30, fully supported parents or grandparents, and siblings aged 18 or over who are single and have no children.[2][3]

A relative’s eligibility does not necessarily place them within the base contribution. Establishing the category and charges for each person allows the budget and supporting relationship documents to reflect the same family circumstances.

An illustration for a family of four

IMA’s application page separates contribution, application, processing, due-diligence and interview charges. The example below follows that breakdown for two applying spouses and children aged 10 and 14. It assumes that all four qualify, with no separate sponsor, special dependant category or additional review.[2]

The US$257,000 subtotal is our calculation from IMA’s application page, not a final quotation. It excludes passport, translation, certification, professional, banking and other applicable costs. Changes in ages or family composition require a fresh calculation.[2]

Reconcile the official fee descriptions

The application page lists US$5,000 for due diligence and US$1,000 for interview for those aged 17 or over. IMA’s FAQ instead lists US$6,000 for due diligence in that age group. The example uses the application page’s separate charges and does not add the FAQ figure again.[2][4]

The descriptions should not be assumed to be equivalent without confirmation. A written breakdown identifying the fee, amount and person charged helps prevent duplication and establishes whether further charges apply.

Allow for age and payment stages

Under the application page’s schedule, a child reaching 17 changes the processing, due-diligence and interview calculation. A sibling, or a parent or grandparent aged 55 or under, also changes the contribution category.[2][3] Keeping an individual breakdown makes these differences easier to review.

Timing matters as well. IMA describes submission through authorised channels, background review and applicable interviews, followed by formal instructions to contribute if the application succeeds. Verified payment is followed by citizenship registration evidence and then a passport application.[2]

A useful family budget identifies the purpose, people covered and payment stage of each charge, together with the costs left outside the estimate. That gives a more complete basis for preparation than the minimum contribution alone.
