To check a Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) agent, start with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) register of licensed MM2H companies. Compare the full company name, licence number and validity period. A promotional statement that a business is “government registered” is not a substitute for that check.[1][2]

The register helps identify the company and its licence record. The scope of service, charges and refund terms still need to be assessed through the proposed contract.

Use the MM2H register, then match the legal name

MOTAC’s official checking service separates MM2H companies from other categories, including travel agencies. Finding a travel-agency entry should therefore prompt a further check in the MM2H category before relying on it for an MM2H engagement.[2][3]

Ask the service provider for its complete registered name and licence number. A trading brand, translated name or shortened name may differ from the legal entity. If discussions use a brand name, request written identification of the company that will sign the contract and its relationship to the licensed company.

Read the validity and office details together

The MM2H list displays the company name, licence number, category, validity period, address and contact details. It distinguishes a head office, labelled Ibu Pejabat, from a branch, labelled Cawangan.[1]

Read the whole entry instead of relying on a cropped screenshot. If a licence image was supplied several months ago, check what the official record shows now. Where services are offered from another city, establish whether the office is a listed branch or a separate business working with the licensed company.

If an address differs, ask the company to explain. Where its identity, licence period or relationship to the service provider remains unclear, seek confirmation through MOTAC’s official channels before committing funds.

Connect the licence check to the contract

Place the company record beside the service agreement, quotation and payment instructions. Identify who submits the application, who provides advice, which charges are government fees and what happens if the engagement ends.

If the contracting company and payment recipient differ, ask for a written explanation. Compare the contract, invoice and payment instructions to establish who receives the money and what service it pays for. Resolve unexplained differences before paying.

Keep a dated record and check again

Save the official link, the matching entry and the date of your check. Revisit the record before signing or submitting the application, particularly if the office, contact person or licence period has changed.

An unsuccessful search should first lead to a spelling and licence-number check, followed by an enquiry to the authority. It does not by itself establish that a business is acting unlawfully. Equally, appearing in the register is not a government guarantee of service quality or application approval.
